What is sleepwalking

Sleepwalking and sleepwalking are the same in principle. They are unconscious activities during human sleep. They are generally manifested as walking indoors and outdoors. If it is slightly serious, there may be some simple activities. But no matter what, sleepwalkers have no expression and do not respond to some slight stimuli. Sometimes their eyes will be half-open, but it is difficult to be awakened. What people say and do while sleepwalking may be difficult for others to understand. Of course, the killing of people in dreams and acting chivalrous in dreams in novels and movies are just fabricated by people using the unconscious characteristics of sleepwalking.

Although sleepwalking is called a dream behavior, in fact it has nothing to do with dreaming, because sleepwalking occurs during the sleep stage, when people do not dream, so it is more reasonable to call sleepwalking walking during sleep. Scientists observed many people who have had the habit of sleepwalking all year round and analyzed and summarized the reasons for sleepwalking. There are four main reasons:

Psychosocial factors. Some people have irregular daily lives, excessive environmental pressure, anxiety and fear. In addition, discord family relationships, study tension and poor test scores are also related to the occurrence of sleepwalking.

developmental factors. Children have a high probability of suffering from sleepwalking. Many follow-up surveys have shown that children who sleepwalk when they are young will gradually return to normal when they grow up, which shows that sleepwalking and physical development are also closely related.

Sleep too deep. Sleepwalking often occurs in the first 1/3 of deep sleep. If you are overworked during the day, stay up late for several consecutive days, cause lack of sleep, and take sleeping pills before going to bed, it can cause further deepening of deep sleep, which can easily induce sleepwalking.

Genetic factors. Sleepwalking is actually a disease, and it has genetic factors. Scientists conducted an investigation into this, and data showed that most family members of sleepwalking patients have a history of positive sleepwalking. In addition, the probability of sleepwalking in identical twins is much higher than that of fraternal twins.

Freud's explanation of sleepwalking has philosophical implications. He divided personality into id (instinct and desire), ego (reason and will) and superego (moral constraints and conscience). The id is usually restrained by the self, but when the power of the id cannot be restrained, it will break through the self's vigilance and do something out of line. Freud believed that sleepwalking was a manifestation of the self, but because it was not controlled by consciousness, it was not responsible.
